Coleus and Foliage Plants in a Shady Corner

Saturday, August 05, 2006

Notice the little helpful green chameleon on this variegated Persian Ivy. This is a baby Iresine plant some people call the "Chicken Gizzard" plant. One sunny morning I shot this Dragon Wing begonia drooping bloom. This is a mixture of colorful coleus to brighten a very shady back corner. This is a banana flower bud and also some baby bananas (not edible).
This is a view of a border in my back yard showing my young jungle. This is a close up of my variegated tapioca plant...a favorite of mine. This is a closeup of a rare double red bougainvillea...another favorite. This is a shot of a Japanese carex called "Sparkler", which it really does. This is a shot of my yellow "Robert Young" bamboo.
This is a Margarita chartreuse sweet potato vine in with Persian Shield.

This is a plant called 'Magilla perilla' which is much like a coleus. For a punch of color and whimsey, I put glass fruit in my birdbath. This tiger lily reminds me of the poem about "Tiger, tiger, burning bright" A Ti plant called "Red Sister" along with ferns after a morning rain. New Guinea impatiens after a morning rain.
