This bed by the patio reminds me of my house in Vientiane, Laos smack dab in the tropical climate of Southeast Asia, where I taught school many years ago.
Jon, thanks so much for visiting my blog and for your compliments! I love your blog - the pictures are fantastic and I love the quotations too. I am so envious of your gardens...things must grow really well down in Mississippi! My husband visits Pascagoula from time to time as he designs ships for the Navy - in fact, he's going down there again at the beginning of August. I must get down there one of these days...
I don't see other links on your site, but do you know Ruth of Me, My Life, My Garden? Her link is on my blog sidebar. If you haven't already, check out her garden blog, as it seems you both have a wonderful ability to photograph gorgeous gardens!
So sweet of mauigirl to give me a plug. Thanks for dropping by my blog Jon. I've done a little scrolling back and love your plants and your photos. I'll make a point of dropping by again.
Thanks, mauigirl and Ruth, for your kind words and for dropping by for a visit. Y'all's blogs are so far ahead of my game, and so well done. I'm a low tech guy and very green at blogging. All thumbs at the keyboard for sure with much, much more to learn.

"The world is so empty if one thinks only of mountains, rivers and cities; but to know someone here and there who thinks and feels with us, and though distant, is close to us in spirit, this makes the earth for us an inhabited garden." --Goethe

A Quote from Henry Mitchell's, The Essential Earthman
"Gardening is a long road, with many detours and way stations, and here we all are at one point or another. It's not a question of superior or inferior taste, merely a question of which detour we are on at the moment. Getting there (as they say) is not important; the wandering about in the wilderness or in the olive groves or in the bayous is the whole point."

[I see in your sidebar all the "Vicksburg" stuff. My hubby is a fanatic of all Civil War ---I'll have to show him your blog]
